i identify as nothing.
It is a real viewpoint on life.
Humans find comfort in communal identity.
A group can quickly rally around a common interest.
- This is why friendly debates can get defensive.
- This is why political discourse can get juvenile.
- This is why sports rivalries can get violent.
These are microcosms of human nature.
We will FIGHT for the interests of the in-group.
We will BURN BRIDGES to those of the out-group.
Ultimately, we will tether ourselves to the ideology that makes us feel welcome.
Our emotions are hijacked by our protective nature over "the group".
The problem is that it disincentivizes the fulfilment of "the individual".
By gaining access to the group status, we simultaneously forego our ability to think.
If we do not think for ourselves...
If we do not create for ourselves...
If we do not take responsibilities for ourselves...
We take solace in the fact the group status accomplishes that for us.
Athletes play the sport. Commentators have GOAT debates.
Politicians discuss ideas. The layman parrots their speech.
We watch people live. We discuss if they made the right choice.
The vital few play the game of life and make decisions.
The trivial many watch the game of life and settle for what is left.
This manifests in common instances of peer pressure.
You MUST argue who is the best.
You MUST argue who is the smartest.
You MUST argue who is the GOAT.
You MUST argue who who lives the right way.
Meanwhile, you are foregoing your own time to actually live your own life.
You SHOULD strive to be the example.
Learn more, make decisions, live your presence, and be the best.
In the interests of the typical group, you do not fit in.
Nor should you want to.
If I don't fit in, I don't care.
I want to think. I want to create. I want to take responsibility for my actions.
I want to play the game of life and decide.
I am comfortable identifying as nothing.
I am comfortable being uncommon.
I am comfortable going against "the group".
All I do is live my life, day by day.
